this is such a useful and generous list!! can I recommend some additions? under 2 (newsletters on writing) I’d recommend the novelist Garth Greenwell’s newsletter, which has so many amazing craft essays https://garthgreenwell.substack.com/
under 4 (notable craft books) the longtime New Yorker writer John McPhee’s book on researching, structuring, writing, and editing longform nonfiction https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/18194765
Thanks for offering this opportunity to spread the word. I offer monthly Zoom conversations on writing craft to paid subscribers to my Substack "Everything is Personal." You can come for as little as $3.75, the cost of a monthly subscription. Paid subscribers are also offered a free consultation with me on the phone to consider working together one-on-one on a writing project. To RSVP for the next Zoom on September 14 from 3 to 4 EST, please email me at: lauriestone@substack.com To check out my stack, please click here: lauriestone.substack.com/p/ice-in-a glass.
You have created a terrific resource . . . many thanks for allowing me to expand the workshoppy element that's arisen through my substack community of readers. They ask questions about the craft and form of the posts, and that's what produced forums to share the tools and techniques I use . . . no magic or inspiration concepts, all methods derived from a practice that can be broken down into steps, experiments, and examples. Please come to a Zoom conversation some time if you like. I can add you to the list for the Zoom on September 14 from 3 to 4 if you email me: lauriestone@substack.com
Thank you Stacey, what an incredible resource you put together, thank you! I have one humble contribution which is a submission club I started called Just Submit (https://www.patreon.com/JustSubmit). We meet twice a month, cameras off on Zoom to submit to lit mags and grants and have 10 minutes to chat at the end about how submissions are going. The free version is 100% the same as the paid and we would be glad for anyone to join!
such a great and helpful list! I recommend Lindsay Hunter's podcast, I'm a Writer But...I always find inspiration listening and valuable, actionable advice on craft in each episode
This is such a great resource. Thank you for putting your time and energy into this! If it's appropriate, I'll share that I hold free accountability/body-doubling writing sessions twice a week: https://wordsbypriscilla.com/co-write
This is an amazing resource. Just a note that Erika Dreifus is a zionist and has actively removed all magazines and organisations that support palestinian liberation and advocate against the genocide from her list. Worth noting especially if you're an anti-imperialist writer!
Wow!
Also 10/10 recommend Deesha Philyaw and Kiese Laymon's podcast Reckon True Stories!
Agreed!

Thanks! I’ll check it out.
This is wonderful. Thank you for compiling and sharing! ❤️
My pleasure!
An amazing compilation Stacey. Thanks for sharing the link in Chelsea's MWC.
Thanks for checking it out, Kristin. Loved hearing your update this morning in writing club!
One more recommendation! Talicha J curates a calendar of online writing events and it's great: https://talichajpoetry.com/upcoming-events
So glad to see Key West Literary Seminar on here (where I work)! Thank you for this incredible resource.
You’re such a wonderful supporter of writers in Boston, Katrin. I’m grateful you found your way here, and thanks so much for the repost!
That’s so nice of you to say, thank you!
